Mt Rainier | Profile Map

Mt Rainier, located in Washington near Seattle. Rainier is the tallest mountain in Washington and the most heavily glaciated peak in the lower 48. This profile map shows the southern slopes.

Profile map have a photographic quality, but all shading is from the elevation data. Rock, glacier, meadow are all shaded based solely by elevation. This gives a clear and unique perspective on terrain, and views that may never be possible to observe without this type of profile map.
