Mt Jefferson | Profile Map

Mt Jefferson is Oregon's second highest mountain. It is one of the more difficult Cascade volcanoes to reach, located deep in a road-less wilderness. This profile map shows the southern slopes.

Profile Maps show a familiar outline in a new perspective. These maps are made by creating a digital 3D model, using the same high resolution elevation data as our birds-eye view maps. This model can be rotated, allowing the map to be viewed in profile.

Profile map have a photographic quality, but all shading is from the elevation data. Rock, glacier, meadow are all shaded based solely by elevation. This gives a clear and unique perspective on terrain, and views that may never be possible to observe without this type of profile map.
