Mt Hood | Profile Map

Mt Hood is the tallest peak in Oregon. Located near Portland and with alpine access from Timberline lodge, it is one of the most climbed technical peaks in the world.

Profile Maps show a familiar outline in a new perspective. These maps are made by creating a digital 3D model, using the same high resolution elevation data as our birds-eye view maps. This model can be rotated, allowing the map to be viewed in profile.

Profile map have a photographic quality, but all shading is from the elevation data. Rock, glacier, meadow are all shaded based solely by elevation. This gives a clear and unique perspective on terrain, and views that may never be possible to observe without this type of profile map.
