Home to the largest ski area in Oregon, Mt. Bachelor is the youngest major peak in the Three Sisters area. Originally Bachelor Butte, resort developers named the ski are Mount Bachelor, thinking butte might be perceived as small time. Over time, the popularity of the resort led the Oregon Geographic Names Board to begrudgingly change the name to Mt. Bachelor
